Bean Curd or Tofu is prepared by coagulating soy milk and pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks.It resembles Indian paneer in taste and looks.This chilly bean curd is spicy and yummy to serve with fried rice.
Ingredients
- Bean Curd(firm) – 6 cubes
- Onion(chopped) –
- Garlic (chopped) – 2
- Chilly Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Tamarind Pulp – 2 tbsp
- Sugar –1tbsp
- Tomato(chopped) –3
- Spring onion –1 tsp
- Oil
- Salt
- Water –1/4 cup
For the Chilly Paste
- Dry Red Chilly – 4
- Garlic cloves – 5
- Shallots –
- water –1/2 cup
Preparation
- Mix tamarind pulp and water.Strain liquid and keep aside.
- Place ingredients for chilly paste in a blender and grind it.
- Cut bean curd into cubes and pat dry.
- Heat oil for frying and deep fry bean curd until golden brown.
- In the same pan leave about 3 tbsp of oil and reheat.Add chilly paste and fry until fragrant and oil separates.
- Add chopped onions and garlic and saute. Add tamarind pulp to it and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.
- Finally add fried bean curd,chilly sauce,chopped tomatoes,spring onion,salt and sugar.cook until bean curd has absorbed all the flavors.
- Serve with fried rice

My daughter likes pasta a lot and she loves this Indian version of spicy and yummy vegetable macaroni as a main course for dinner.Hope you all will enjoy this quick and easy recipe.

Ingredients
- Macaroni –500 gms
- Green peas(boiled) – 50 gms
- Green beans(cut into small pieces)- 50 gms
- Carrot(chopped) – 2
- Capsicum(red or green)- 1
- Onion(chopped) –2
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Ginger-garlic paste – 1tsp
- Green chilly – 3
- Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder –1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves
- Water
- Salt
- Oil –1 tbsp
Preparation
- Boil macaroni with turmeric powder,salt, 2tsp cooking oil and required amount of water for 5 minutes.Drain water and keep aside.
- In a frying pan,heat oil. Add mustard seeds.once it starts to splutter, add chopped onions,ginger-garlic paste and saute till light brown .Add curry leaves,coriander leaves,chopped green chilly and red chilly powder.
- Add vegetables to it and mix well.Cover and cook for 5 minutes.once the vegetables are cooked well.add boiled macaroni to it and stir well.Turn off the heat.
- Serve hot.

Wish you all a happy and prosperous new year. I wish all your resolutions and dreams come true in this Chinese year of the tiger. So, I’m going to start off my first post of the year with a Chinese touch with some yummy spice
We usually make Sāmbhar using okra, but I’m going to share a unique recipe using okra in a Chinese style.
Ingredients
- Okra (Lady’s Finger) – 6
- Onion – 1
- Green Chilly – 1
- Garlic(Chopped) – 4
- Pepper Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
- Corn Flour – 2 tsp
- Maida (All purpose flour) – 1 tsp
- Egg – 1
- Oil
- Curry leaves
Preparation
- Wash okra and pat dry with a tissue paper to remove stickiness
- Cut it into long pieces
- Mix 1 1/2 tsp of corn flour, Maida, egg, salt and 1 tsp of pepper powder
- Marinate okra pieces with the mix and keep aside for 30 minutes
- Dust marinated okra pieces with the remaining corn flour and fry till both sides are light brown
- Heat oil in a frying pan again and sauté chopped onion, garlic and green chilly.
- Add fried okra, 1/2 tsp pepper powder and stir well.
- Serve hot
