Pavakka fry  (1)

Ingredients

  1. Bitter gourd /Kaipakka(cut into round pieces) – 4
  2. Onion (chopped) – 2
  3. Red chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  4. Pepper powder – 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder – 1tsp
  6. Salt
  7. Oil
  8. Green Chilly – 2
  9. Curry leaves

Preparation

  1. Marinate bitter gourd with chilly powder, pepper powder,turmeric and salt. Keep aside for 1 hr.
  2. Deep fry in oil and transfer it to a serving bowl.
  3. Fry chopped onions in the remaining oil till golden brown in color and mix with bitter gourd pieces.
  4. Garnish with fried curry leaves and green chilly.
  5. Serve with rice or porridge.

Ingredients:

  1. Bitter Gourd(Pavakka) – 250 gms
  2. Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
  3. Green chilly – 100 gms
  4. Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
  5. Curd – 1/2 litre
  6. Dry red chilly – 1
  7. Oil – 200 gms
  8. Salt  to taste
  9. Curry leaves

Preparation

  1. Slice the bitter gourd into thin round pieces. Deep fry until brown and crispy. Place them on a  tissue paper so as to remove the excess oil. You can use ladies finger instead of bitter gourd.
  2. Grind coconut ,green chilly,mustard seeds  in to a fine paste.Mix well coconut paste  with curd,pavakka pieces  and salt. boil on low flame and once bubble  comes turn off the heat.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.splutter mustard seeds,  red chillies and curry leaves and add it to the above mixture.
