dry prawn-cabbage thoran

Ingredients:

  1. Cabbage – 1
  2. Dried Prawn – 250gms
  3. Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
  4. Chopped onion -1
  5. Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder – 1/4 tsp
  9. Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
  10. Garam Masala powder – 1/4 tsp
  11. mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  12. Urad dal – 1 pinch
  13. Curry leaves
  14. Salt
  15. Oil

Dry prawn

Preparation

  1. Wash the dried prawns a couple of times without removing the shell.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  3. Add urad dal,ginger-garlic paste,curry leaves and saute.
  4. Add chopped onions and fry.Add all masala powders and once the raw smell goes, add shredded cabbage,dried prawns ,salt and mix well.cover and cook .
  5. once it is cooked well,add grated coconut and pepper powder to it and stir for 2 mins.Remove from fire.
  6. Serve with rice.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 small or medium size Cabbage, shredded into small pieces
  2. 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  3. 5-6 Shallots
  4. 3-4 Green chilly
  5. Curry leaves
  6. 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  7. 1/4 tsp urad dal
  8. Coconut oil
  9. salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Grind coconut,green chilly,shallot ,curry leaves to a coarse paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds,urad dal ,curry leaves and add cabbage,salt.stir well and cover with a lid and cook . There is no need to add water while cooking cabbage.
  3. once the cabbage is cooked well, add the coconut mix to it and stir for another 2-3 mins till dry.
  4. Serve with rice and sambhar.
