Dragon chicken is popular in Chinese cuisine and this time I tried using fish instead of chicken. it came out really good.It can be served as Appetizer for parties or with fried rice .

dragon Fish (1)

Ingredients

  1. Fish Fillet – 250 gms
  2. Egg –1
  3. Pepper powder-1/4 tsp
  4. Ginger-garlic paste- 1/12 tsp
  5. All purpose flour/Maida – 2 tbsp
  6. Corn flour – 2 tbsp
  7. Onion(cut into cubes) – 1
  8. Ginger(chopped) –1 tsp
  9. Garlic (chopped) – 1tbsp
  10. Capsicum(Green & yellow, cut into cubes) –1
  11. Green Chilly – 3
  12. Red Chilly flakes or Red chilly paste – 1 1/2 tbsp
  13. Tomato Ketchup – 1 tbsp
  14. Soy sauce – 1 tsp
  15. Chilly Sauce – 1 tbsp
  16. Celery(chopped) – 1 tsp
  17. Spring onions(chopped) – 1 tbsp
  18. Oil
  19. Salt

Preparation

  1. Cut fish into medium 1 “ pieces.
  2. In  a bowl ,add maida,corn flour,ginger-garlic paste,salt,pepper powder and egg.Mix well using little water to get a thick batter.
  3. Heat oil in a Pan for frying.Dip the fish pieces in the batter and fry till light brown in color.
  4. In another pan,add 2 tbsp oil(use the same oil used for frying).
  5. Saute chopped onions,green chilly,ginger-garlic and once it is done,add chilly paste,chilly sauce,tomato ketchup and soy sauce.
  6. Add fried fish to it and mix well to get coated.
  7. check for salt and add if needed as soy sauce is salty.Add little water and stir well and cook for 2 minutes.
  8. Finally add celery and chopped spring onions.
  9. Remove from fire.
  10. Dragon fish is ready to serve with fried rice.

This curry is prepared using brinjal and prawns in a  less spicy masala. it goes well with Rice or Roti.

prawn-Brinjal Curry (1)

Ingredients

  1. Brinjal(cut into medium thin slices) – 5
  2. Prawns – 250 gms
  3. Cumin seeds – 3/4 tbsp
  4. Mustard seeds – 1 1/4 tbsp
  5. Green Chilly –2
  6. Garlic – 4
  7. Ginger – 1/2 “ piece
  8. Tomato (cut into medium pieces) – 2
  9. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  10. Salt
  11. Oil
  12. Curry leaves
  13. Water – 1/4 cup

prawn-Brinjal Curry (3)

 

 

Preparation

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry brinjal pieces till both sides are light brown.strain and keep aside.
  2. In the same oil fry prawn pieces(don’t over cook prawns as prawn tend to be rubbery)  till golden brown.
  3. Make a paste of 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds,1 tbsp mustard seeds,green chilly ,garlic and ginger.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in another pan.Splutter 1/4 tbsp mustard seeds,curry leaves and 1/4 tbsp cumin seeds. once it is done,add the paste to it and saute well.
  5. Add tomato pieces and fry well. once tomatoes are all done, add turmeric powder and salt to it. Stir well.
  6. Add 1/4 cup of water(if you want more curry, u can add more water) to it and mix well.
  7. Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from fire.Serve with rice.

This is a different style of preparing podimas using Fish. I usually make potato podimas for chappathi. when I was searching for some fish recipes the other day, I found this interesting recipe in vanitha pachakam magazine and I wanted to give it a try.This yummy dish goes well with rice.

 

Fish Podimas (3)

Ingredients

  1. Fish(Boneless tilapia fillets,cut into small cubes) – 1/2 kg
  2. Onion(finely chopped) – 1
  3. Shallots(finely chopped) – 1/2 cup
  4. Tomato(cut into small pieces) –1
  5. Green Chilly(chop into small pieces) – 2
  6. Dry red chilly -1
  7. Garam masala powder –1/2 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  9. kashmiri red Chilly Powder – 2 tsp
  10. Ginger(Finely chopped) –1 tsp
  11. Garlic(finely chopped) –1 tsp
  12. Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
  13. urad dal(uzhunnu parippu) –1/2 tsp
  14. Cury leaves – 1 sprig
  15. Lime juice – 1 tbsp
  16. Coconut Oil – 4 tbsp
  17. Salt

Fish Podimas (1)

Preparation

  1. Clean and cut fish fillet into small cubes.Marinate fish pieces with 1 tsp red chilly powder,turmeric powder and salt .Keep aside for 1 hour.
  2. Heat a Manchatti  and add marinated fish pieces and 1 tbsp of water to it.cover and cook on low flame till done.
  3. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. splutter mustard seeds.once it is done add urad dal,curry leaves and saute.once the dal changes it s color to light brown,add chopped ginger,garlic and saute well.
  4. Add green chilly,dry red chilly to it and mix well.
  5. Add chopped onions,shallots and saute well till onion turns golden brown.add tomato pieces,garam masala powder, 1 tbsp red chilly powder,1 tbsp oil and mix well.
  6. once it is fried well, add cooked fish pieces to it and mix gently to get fully coated with masala.while stirring,take care not to crush the fish pieces.
  7. cover and cook for 1 minute.Remove from fire.Finally add lemon juice on top of the masala.
  8. Fish podimas is ready to serve with rice.
