Chicken Bezule/Mangalorean Street Food

Chicken Bezule is quite popular in Karnataka and sold in the streets of coastal areas like Mangalore.This is prepared using boneless chicken pieces.This can be served as a perfect cocktail party appetizer.This recipe is adapted from vahrehvah.com.

Ingredients

  1. Chicken(boneless,cut into small pieces) – 500 gms
  2. Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  3. Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
  4. Green chilly – 5
  5. Ginger – 1 “ piece
  6. Garlic cloves –  6
  7. Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Kashmiri Chilly powder – 2 tbsp
  9. Rice flour – 1 1/2 tbsp
  10. All purpose flour/Maida – 1 1/2 tbsp
  11. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  12. Curd – 1 tbsp
  13. Salt
  14. Oil – for frying

Preparation

  1. Grind curry leaves,coriander leaves,ginger garlic,green chilly into a coarse paste.
  2. Transfer the paste into a bowl and add chilly powder,garam masala powder,rice flour,maida,lemon juice,curd, salt and mix well.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to it and mix well.Marinate for at least 4 hours.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.Deep fry till both sides are brown in color.
  5. The actual recipe calls for red food color to get a nice red color.but i didn’t add it.
  6. Garnish with fried curry leaves and green chilly.
  7. serve hot as appetizer or cocktail snack.
