Punjabi Chicken Curry

Ingredients:

  1. Chicken – 1/2 kg
  2. Onion (chopped) – 1
  3. Tomato (chopped) – 1
  4. Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
  5. Ginger – 1 piece
  6. Garlic flakes – 4
  7. Red chilly powder – 2 tbsp
  8. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tsp
  10. Cumin(jeera) – 2 tsp
  11. Sugar – 1 1/2 tsp
  12. Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
  13. Ghee – 4 tbsp
  14. Cashew nuts – 10
  15. Salt
  16. Coriander leaves – to garnish

Preparation:

  1. Grind ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, and onion chopped into a fine paste.
  2. Make a paste of coconut and cashew nuts and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai. Add 1 1/2 tsp sugar to it and stir till brown in color. Add onion paste and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add tomato pieces and cook until oil separates .
  5. Mix chicken pieces with appropriate amount of salt. Add coconut paste and 2 cups of water and cook it well.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala on top.Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot with rice or rotis.
