Punjabi Chicken Curry
Ingredients:
- Chicken – 1/2 kg
- Onion (chopped) – 1
- Tomato (chopped) – 1
- Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
- Ginger – 1 piece
- Garlic flakes – 4
- Red chilly powder – 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tsp
- Cumin(jeera) – 2 tsp
- Sugar – 1 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
- Ghee – 4 tbsp
- Cashew nuts – 10
- Salt
- Coriander leaves – to garnish
Preparation:
- Grind ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, and onion chopped into a fine paste.
- Make a paste of coconut and cashew nuts and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add 1 1/2 tsp sugar to it and stir till brown in color. Add onion paste and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add tomato pieces and cook until oil separates .
- Mix chicken pieces with appropriate amount of salt. Add coconut paste and 2 cups of water and cook it well.
- Sprinkle garam masala on top.Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot with rice or rotis.
Nice recipe. I will try it for my hubby and daughter.
Me cook in the same way, but no cumin..here nobody likes cumin taste in non items..Y’day made this for dinner..
