Ingredients
- Fish fillet - 250 g
- Egg - 1 whole
- Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1/12 tsp
- All-purpose flour or maida - 2 tbsp
- Corn flour - 2 tbsp
- Onion - 1 whole
- Ginger - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 1 tbsp
- Capsicum (green and yellow) - 1 whole
- Green chili - 3 whole
- Red chili flakes or red chili paste - 1 1/2 tbsp
- Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce - 1 tsp
- Chili sauce - 1 tbsp
- Celery - 1 tsp
- Spring onions - 1 tbsp
- Oil
- Salt
Instructions
- 1Prepare the ingredients: cut the fish into medium 1-inch pieces, dice the onion and capsicum, and chop the ginger, garlic and spring onions.
- 2In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour or maida, corn flour, ginger-garlic paste, salt, pepper powder and the egg; add a little water and whisk to a thick batter.
- 3Heat oil in a pan for frying. Dip each fish piece in the batter to coat it, then carefully fry until light brown and crisp on the outside.
- 4In another pan, add 2 tbsp oil (you can use a little of the frying oil) and heat over medium-high until warm.
- 5Sauté the diced onion, green chili, chopped ginger and chopped garlic until the onion softens and the mixture becomes fragrant.
- 6Stir in the red chili flakes or red chili paste, chili sauce, tomato ketchup and soy sauce and mix until the sauce is well combined.
- 7Add the fried fish to the pan and gently toss so each piece is evenly coated with the sauce.
- 8Check for salt and add if needed since soy sauce is salty; add a little water, stir well and cook for 2 minutes.
- 9Stir in the celery and chopped spring onions, then remove the pan from the heat.
- 10Serve the dragon fish hot as an appetizer or alongside fried rice.
- 11Optional: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and extra spring onions before serving for a finishing touch.
