Ingredients
- Salmon - 1 lb
- Yogurt - 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Lemon juice - 1 tsp
- Salt
- Ginger - 1/2 whole
- Garlic - 3 clove
- Green chili - 4 whole
- Coriander leaves or cilantro - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 1/2 whole
- Mint leaves or pudina - 7 whole
- Cloves - 4 whole
- Cinnamon stick - 1 whole
- Black peppercorns - 4 whole
- Oil, for brushing
Instructions
- 1Remove the outer skin from the salmon, cut the fillet into medium pieces, and pat each piece dry with paper towels so the marinade sticks better.
- 2Make the hariyali paste by adding the ginger, garlic, green chili, coriander leaves, onion, mint leaves, cloves, cinnamon stick, and black peppercorns to a blender and grinding into a smooth paste.
- 3In a mixing bowl, combine the salmon pieces with the turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, and salt and toss gently to distribute the dry spices.
- 4Add the yogurt, lemon juice, and the green paste to the spiced salmon and mix until every piece is well coated in the marinade.
- 5Marinate the fish in the refrigerator for about 5 hours to let the flavors develop.
- 6Preheat the oven to 350°F, line a baking tray with aluminum foil, and arrange the marinated salmon pieces in a single layer.
- 7Brush the salmon pieces with a little oil and bake them on one side for about 15 minutes; once the first side is done, turn each piece over and bake again for another 15 minutes.
- 8Serve the salmon as a starter or as a side dish for rice.
