Kaipola is a famous Malabar snack prepared using Ripe banana and Eggs.It is served during Iftar parties in the month of is easy to prepare this yummy snack  with less ingredients in your pantry.This is a healthy snack for kids.hope you all enjoy this sweet dish.



  1. Banana(Ripe,cut into small pieces) – 4
  2. Eggs – 5
  3. Ghee-4 tbsp
  4. Cashews – 1 tbsp
  5. Raisins – 1 tbsp
  6. Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Sugar- 5 tbsp



  1. Heat  3 tbsp ghee in a non stick pan. saute banana pieces till brown in color.
  2. In the same pan,fry cashews and raisins and keep aside.
  3. In a bowl, add eggs and beat well using a fork. Add sugar, cardamom powder to it and stir well.
  4. Then add sauteed banana pieces to it and mix well.
  5. Grease 1 tbsp ghee in a non stick pan and transfer the mix into it.
  6. Sprinkle fried raisins and cashews on top.
  7. Cover the pan with a tightly closed lid and cook on very low flame for about 15-20 minutes.After 15 minutes,open the lid and  insert a toothpick and if it comes out clean,it is done.Take care not to get burned.
  8. Remove from fire and let it cool. Turn it over to a plate and cut into pieces.
  9. Serve as evening snack .

This curry is prepared by making omelette and cooked in spices and coconut milk.It goes well with rice or roti.

Omlette Curry (2)


For Making Omelette:

  1. Egg – 4
  2. Onion(chopped) – 1
  3. Green Chilly – 3
  4. Coriander leaves (chopped) – 1 tsp
  5. Celery – 1 tbsp
  6. Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt
  8. Oil

For Masala Paste

  1. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  2. Red Chilly Powder –1 1/2 tsp
  3. Coriander powder –2 tsp
  4. Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Garam Masala powder –1/2 tsp
  6. Cashewnuts(make a paste) – 25 gms
  7. Ginger – 1 “ piece.

For Gravy

  1. Oil – 3 tbsp
  2. Onion(chopped) – 2
  3. Tomato (chopped) – 2
  4. Green chilly – 3
  5. Vinegar – 1/2 tsp
  6. Coriander leaves
  7. salt
  8. Coconut milk(thick) – 1/2 cup
  9. Coconut Milk (Thin) – 2 cups


Omlette Curry (1)


  1. Make a paste of fennel  seeds,coriander powder,red chilly powder,turmeric powder,garam masala,and ginger.
  2. In a bowl, add onion,green chilly,pepper pwoder,salt,coriander leaves,celery  and eggs.beat well and make omelettes.cut omelette lengthwise.
  3. Heat oil in a  pan.Saute chopped onions,tomatoes,green chilly  and once it is done,add masala paste to it.
  4. once the raw smell goes,add thin coconut milk to it and stir well. let it boil.Add cashewnut paste mixed with thick coconut milk  to it.Add it to the masala.
  5. Finally add omelette pieces to it and mix well.let it cook for 1-2 minutes. Remove from fire.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.serve with Rice or Roti.

Horse gram is a type of legume which is high in proteins and it can be added to our diet on a regular basis.I have read in a healthy magazine that regular intake helps to reduce cholesterol and lose weight.hope u all love this easy and simple chammanthi recipe which goes well with rice or porridge.

MUthira Chammanthi (4)



  1. Horse gram-2 tbsp
  2. Dry red Chilly- 6
  3. Urad dal/uzhunnu parippu –1 tsp
  4. Garlic –2
  5. Mustard seeds –1/2 tsp
  6. Tamarind – a small piece
  7. curry leaves
  8. Grated coconut –1 cup
  9. Salt

MUthira Chammanthi (2)


  1. Heat a pan and dry roast horse gram till brown on low flame.Don’t let it burn.
  2. Add dry red chilly,urad dal,mustard seeds to the pan and dry roast it.
  3. Grind the roasted items along with grated coconut,tamarind,salt and curry leaves.Add little water to it while grinding. the chammanthi should be thick,not watery.
  4. serve with rice or Porridge.
