Pineapple Pachadi

Pineapple pachadi is a sweet dish made with pineapple, and coconut. This is usually served as a side dish during marriages and Kerala festivals like onam.

  1. Pineapple(ripe,medium) – 2 cups
  2. Grapes(Red seedless )12 nos.
  3. Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
  4. Cumin seeds(jeerakam) –1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  6. Green Chilly – 4
  7. Sugar – 2 tbsp
  8. Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
  9. Dry Red Chilly -2
  10. Curry leaves
  11. Yogurt- 4 tbsp


  1. Peel off pineapple skin and chop into small pieces.
  2. Grind grated coconut with cumin seeds ,2 green chilly ,1 tsp mustard seeds and keep aside
  3. Boil chopped pineapple pieces,turmeric powder,2 green chilly and salt.
  4. Once it is cooked well, mash it using the back of a spoon.then add the coconut paste and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Once it is done, add yogurt.mix well.
  6. Finally add grapes, sugar and mix well. Take care not to mash the grapes while stirring.
  7. Remove  from fire.
  8. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds ,red chili,and curry leaves and add the seasonings to the pachadi.
  9. Serve with rice.
